At Fenton Dental we have been using the tooth coloured filling material , in both front and back teeth since 1981. Patients prefer to have the tooth coloured filling rather than the silver (amalgam fillings), even though the amalgam filling lasts longer than the white composite resin filling.

We don’t advise the removal of amalgam fillings for health reasons, unless there are rare chronic conditions that may indicate their removal. On occasions however, it is appropriate to remove old, corroded and unsightly amalgam, at which time most people opt for the white fillings to replace them. At Fenton Dental this can be done in a safe and controlled environment, with the new replacement filling looking more natural when replaced with the white composite filling. Large amalgams or teeth that involve more than half of their bulk in filling material need a strong replacement such as a crown.
